The history of the Lukashansl in Bruck
As early as 1620, Lukas Mayr and his wife Eva Embacher acquired the "Taverne an der Brugge".
Their son Johann Mayr was funny and turbulent and soon the saying in Bruck was: "Let's go to Lukas his Hansl." Thus the name Lukashansl was born.
The following generations were very hard-working and brought the inn and farming business up to the present day.
Rupert Mayr was born in 1810, who later became an auxiliary bishop.
1890 Johann Mayr, a pioneer of tourism, built the Alpengasthof Trauneralm in the Großglockner region and the Gasthof Lukashansl in Ferleiten as a summer retreat.
It was on his initiative that the first section of the Großglockner High Alpine Road from Fusch/Embachkapelle to Ferleiten was built from the right-hand side to the left.
His son Peter Mayr took over the Lukashansl in Bruck. His hard-working wife Josefine Bernreiter from Vienna brought with her a great appreciation of beauty. While many people used old chests and farmhouse furniture as firewood, everything in the Lukashansl has been preserved to this day.
They survived the sad times of the two world wars. Farming was a blessing during this time, as the joy of working in the fields gave the family a positive outlook for the future and provided them with food and milk. Soon there was an upturn and a general zest for life returned.
The beautiful Pinzgau region with its many facets from the mountains to the lake soon attracted many guests again, both in summer and winter.
In 1963, Peter Mayr jun. took over the Lukashansl in Bruck, including the farm. Thanks to his great efforts and his promotion of skiing, the first Danish winter guest came to Austria in 1964.
Peter Mayr died in 2003. His wife Erika Mayr and their daughters Riki, Evi, Uschi and Sissi continue to run the business to this day.
Down-to-earth and proud of our ancestors, we want to continue to run the business for generations to come.
The grandchildren Elisabeth, Katharina, Anna, Josef, Peter, Lukas, Maria, Lisa, Johanna, Magdalena are already actively helping out.
And the great-grandchildren Paula and Tom can already be found in the business ;-).
