The Trauneralm is located in the wild and romantic Käfertal, which can be reached from Hotel Lukashansl via Fusch and Ferleiten. This is also the location of our alpine pasture, where our cows graze and are milked in summer. 15 three-thousand-metre peaks surround our traditional alpine hut in the middle of the unspoilt Hohe Tauern National Park and invite you to go on numerous hikes.

Directions to Käfertal
From the Hotel Lukashansl, drive to Fusch and on to Ferleiten. Turn right before the Ferleiten toll station and continue over the Fuscher Ache to the parking lot at the beginning of the Käfertal.
Visitor parking lot
The large parking lot especially for visitors to Käfertal is located on the left after the bridge over the stream opposite the Tauernhaus (1,151 meters above sea level).
On foot to the Trauneralm
Starting from the Käfertal parking lot, you walk straight through the Käfertal to the Wiesenbrücke bridge and then left up to the Trauneralm. Total walking time approx. 2.5 hours.

History of the Trauneralm

Step into our alpine hut and let us take you on a journey into the past!
The Gasthof Trauneralm was built back in 1890 by Johann Mayr, then landlord of the Lukashansl in Bruck, as an alpine inn and last refuge before crossing the Alps to Carinthia. The hotel's own hydroelectric power station was already generating electricity back then.

The dining room furnished with Thonet armchairs, the cannon stove and the rooms built in typical Austrian style are still well preserved today and invite you to enjoy a cozy break and overnight stay.

Stop in and let us spoil you with typical Pinzgau delicacies. Try the daily fresh milk directly from the mountain pasture or other tasty products from our own farm such as cheese, yogurt and bacon.

Overnight stay in the mountain hut
Make yourself really comfortable in our alpine rooms or the dormitory! Showers on each floor with plenty of hot water are available to our guests. As soon as you wake up, you can enjoy the fantastic view of the surrounding three thousand meter peaks.

In summer, the Alpengasthof Trauneralm is open daily from June to the end of September.

Day trip in the Hohe Tauern National Park
Our alpine pasture at 1,530 meters above sea level is particularly popular with hikers and mountain bikers for a day trip. You can reach the Trauneralm on foot via the Käfertal in around 2 to 2.5 hours walking time from the parking lot opposite the Tauernhaus (1,151 meters above sea level). This leaves enough time for a leisurely stop for refreshments.
Stopover for crossing the Alps and the Glockner Tour
The Trauneralm is an ideal stopover on the unique Alpine crossing from the German Watzmann (Berchtesgaden) to the Three Peaks in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. Our alpine hut is also a popular stopover on the popular Glockner circuit from Kaprun Mooserboden via the Kalser Tauern, Peischlachtörl, Heiligenblut, Fusch Brandlscharte back to Kaprun.
